Simon Jaymes @ The Bedford

Simon JaymesTo The Bedford in Balham to hear Simon Jaymes (see previous posting, too).

He’s an amazing artist. The Bedford is also an amazing venue – they simulcast their gigs on the net & secondlife, so that my drinking partner for the evening who had to leave before Simon’s set started, could watch the gig on t’internet while his potatoes were browning. Aha, there you go, another ‘music, dance and IT’ post (since Simon’s also a dancer).

This backstage shot reminds me of the weird room at the top of Her Majesty’s in Haymarket. I’m sure there must be a connection.

I’m beginning to think I’m crap at blogging, because all those deep, subtle, zeitgeist-inflected thoughts which occurred to me at the gig – well, now I’m thinking, you know, go and see Simon for yourself (or go to his myspace space, I can’t be bothered to write it all down.

Youtube dance heaven

I’m not going to comment or say what this is in case it brings the piece up in search engines and results in the clip being taken off Youtube, but let’s just say it’s a very famous work by a very famous choreographer which you will find hard to watch in the same way once you’ve seen this spoof version. It’s actually not a spoof at all – the choreography is the original article, it’s just the… well, go and watch it.
